Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 16 September 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to the MATES mobile applications on the Apple App Store and Google Play, and the websites at matesdriver.com.au and app.matesdriver.com.au, operated by Limoz Australia Pty Ltd (ABN: 94 696 132 840, ACN: 696 132 840), located at 81 Major Rd, Fawkner, VIC 3060, Australia ("we", "us", or "our").
1. Data Controller Identification
Limoz Australia Pty Ltd acts as the primary data controller for personal information collected through the MATES platform.
2. Information We Collect
- Personal Identification Data: Full Name, Email Address, Mobile Phone Number, ABN, Operating City, and optional Employer MATES ID.
- Licence & Accreditation Data: Driver licence details and Driver Accreditation, LDA, CPV, or equivalent authority details.
- Compliance Documents: Copies or images uploaded by users of driver licences, CPV registrations or plates, LDA or equivalent accreditations, vehicle registrations, insurance documents, roadworthiness or safety certificates, and related expiry or identifier details.
- Account Authentication: Mobile verification codes sent by SMS. Limoz Australia Pty Ltd’s own SMS gateway is the primary sender. ClickSend is used as a failsafe if the primary gateway cannot deliver the message.
- Financial & Transaction Data: In-app digital wallet transactions, bank-transfer and PayPal top-ups, deposit receipts, withdrawal requests, payment logs, processing-fee deductions, and records of outstanding amounts payable.
- Incident Information: Accident, incident, or mishap details that MATES may request in connection with a booking, including information provided by the driver for platform administration, safety, or insurance purposes.
- Vehicle & Fleet Information: Vehicle class, registration, and fleet ownership details.
- Device Data: Device identifiers, operating system, and push notification tokens used to deliver job alerts.
Mandatory Location Data Disclosure
MATES collects precise location data (Latitude/Longitude coordinates) from driver devices to enable live job tracking, dispatch route optimization, and ride progress updates for dispatchers.
Location tracking begins the moment a driver taps "Proceed" on an active ride and continues continuously—even when the application is minimized or running in the background—until the ride status is marked as "Completed".
3. How We Use Information
We use the collected information to:
- Create and administer MATES accounts, including employer-linked employee driver accounts.
- Verify identity, licence, accreditation, vehicle, insurance, and other eligibility documents uploaded to the platform.
- Facilitate real-time job dispatching, bidding, and fare calculations.
- Validate driver location progress and inform dispatchers of arrival statuses.
- Enforce overnight sleeping hours safety protocols ("Proceed" confirmation deadlines).
- Execute automated wallet reconciliation and payouts, including crediting employee driver earnings to a linked employer wallet.
- Administer outstanding amounts, including debt recovery where an undisputed amount remains unpaid.
- Review incident, accident, or mishap information for platform administration, safety, or insurance purposes.
- Comply with local transportation regulations and tax laws in Australia.
Collecting or reviewing compliance documents, or requesting incident information, does not transfer legal, insurance, or road-law liability to Limoz Australia Pty Ltd, the MATES platform, or any dispatcher. Those obligations remain with the driver and, where applicable, the linked employer.
4. Data Sharing & Third-Party Processors
We do not sell personal information. Data is shared only as needed to operate MATES:
- Dispatchers and group owners: Driver identity, vehicle, job, and live location information needed to allocate, monitor, and complete bookings.
- Linked employers: Employee driver account, job, and wallet or earnings information for drivers registered under an Employer MATES ID.
- MATES super admins: Operational access required to administer accounts, bookings, wallets, and platform compliance.
- SMS Gateway (Limoz Australia Pty Ltd): Primary sender for One-Time Password (OTP) verification SMS alerts.
- ClickSend: Failsafe SMS provider used only if the primary SMS gateway cannot deliver the message.
- Payment Processors (PayPal / CyberSource / Banking Gateways): For processing wallet top-ups, deposits, and wallet transactions. PayPal top-ups are subject to the PayPal processing fee described in the Terms of Service.
- Push Notification Infrastructure: For real-time bidding alerts and job notifications, including Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Apple and Google: App store platforms used to distribute the MATES mobile applications. Purchases and account data handled by those stores are governed by their own privacy policies.
- Debt recovery providers: Where an undisputed outstanding amount remains unpaid, information needed to recover that amount may be shared with a debt recovery provider.
- Credit reporting agencies: If an undisputed outstanding amount remains unpaid for more than 30 days after becoming due, Limoz Australia Pty Ltd may, where legally permitted and subject to applicable notice and reporting requirements, report the outstanding debt to relevant credit reporting agencies.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain personal information for as long as your MATES account remains active or as required by Australian legal and financial record-keeping standards.
Users have the right to request account deletion and removal of personal information. To request deletion, send an email to [email protected] with your registered MATES ID and phone number. Account deletions are processed within 14 business days, subject to pending financial settlements.
